The 2026 application process will open in January 2026. |
Q | How many scholarships will be awarded? |
A | Two scholarships of not less than $1,000 each will be awarded. Additional scholarships may be awarded, amounts to be determined by the VCAA Board. |
Q | How will I find out if I have received a scholarship? |
A | On or before July 1, scholarship applicants will be notified of the results by email from the VCAA President and Education Directors. The VCAA Treasurer will make arrangements with the college of the scholarship recipients. When we have received confirmation that the student has enrolled for fall semester classes, payment will be made to the college on behalf of the recipient. |
Q | If I received a scholarship last year, can I apply again? |
A | Previous recipients may apply for additional scholarships. |
Q | If I applied last year, can the same Life Statement be used? |
A | No. A new Life Statement must be submitted with each application, updated with any new directions or plans. |
Q | If I applied last year, can I use the same letter of reference? |
A | Applicants can have the same person write a letter of reference, but it needs to be a new letter, reflecting what they know about you currently. |
Q | If I applied the previous year, can you use the photo you already have? |
A | Yes, we can use the photo we have. Or you can submit a new photo if you wish. |
Q | What happens if I don't go to college, or I choose not to receive the scholarship funds? |
A | The amount of that scholarship will be returned to the Scholarship Fund. You may apply for a scholarship another year with the same consideration as other applicants. |
Q | Can someone else submit the application for me? |
A | No. Applicants must submit the application themselves. |
Note: | |
We recognize that educating and equipping leaders happens in various ways, including:
Formal—courses with graded required work leading to an accredited degree, such as those offered in institutions of higher education.
Non-Formal—courses with work that may earn academic credits but may not result in a degree, such as a program to develop specific ministry skills.
Informal—ongoing learning that may not have an intentional curriculum, such as a coaching relationship or apprenticeship.
Our VCAA scholarships prioritize students in formal programs leading to a degree. However, the VCAA Board may also award one or more scholarships per year for a leader in a non-formal or informal program that we determine will enhance their ministry. |
